THIS EVENT HAS TAKEN PLACE
The Association of British Theatre Technicians was started in 1961 by a small enthusiastic group; today the membership is about 1700 and rising. Its main purpose is to raise technical standards in the theatre by collecting and making available information concerning theatre planning, stage machinery, lighting and sound equipment, acoustics, scenery construction, stage management and all aspects of presentation. The Historical Research Committee has two main objectives: To document and record the onset of technology being used in the field of entertainment, and to evaluate the importance of technical installations and artefacts, especially where they are threatened with either demolition or destruction.
